Actually, what I’m most interested in is the fact that he named his yacht “Serenity.”
The part about how they were “charged with conversion from Islam to Christianity” says it all.

The more you deny something, the more convinced the accusing party becomes. Of anything. For both sides.
Call me a skeptic, but I wouldn’t be completely surprised if it turned out that the whole ‘stabbing someone fifty to sixty times then cutting their head off then brandishing it around’ did not in fact happen and was more along the lines of ‘man received Death by a Thousand Cuts and a large amount of blood was confused with detachment of skull’. Canadians lead complacent and confusing lives like that, as I should know.
Of course, it could have happened. Just, you know, strange, as per usual.
…until the Olympics are over and the country promptly entered complete lockdown once again for fear of loss of cultural integrity.
Back when I was in China, the most frustrating was the fact that their Internet sucked nine kinds of Hell (or eighteen levels of Di-yu, possibly) and the loss of resources – mainly Wikipedia – meant I was actually glad to go to work; at least I get a decent Internet connection without any sort of blocking.
Plus, I was the only knowledgeable computer user there, which pretty much meant I could do whatever I wanted and no one would be the wiser.
