I’ve always been a fan of the Wolfenstein series – Wolf3D was my first FPS, Return to Castle Wolfenstein is one of my favourite games of all times and has the most solid multiplayer component ever to grace a shooter – but I was pretty dumbstruck when they announced a sequel. It’s been a while since the last game, gaming has changed quite a bit, and so have the mechanics and expectations; I’ll try and judge this on its own merit.
The entire cast is probably tired of repeating the Hologram Summer for the fifth time now, but Actress Again is out on PS2. Which I don’t have, so all I can do is gush over Ryougi and wait for the inevitable as-the-rising-of-the-Sun PC port.
And speaking of gushing…
(Win VS Tohno – “You’re my senior when it comes to these eyes, lady-killer.”)
(Last line of her Last Arc – “This is the answer -degozaru! …Huh, I think I just blurted out something weird.”)
Ryougi sure has some strange lines.
FYI: The LA line is from All Around Type-Moon, where Ryougi’s movie script involved a (quoth Saber) “…samurai …detective.”
Probably to tie in with the first Nanoha theatrical remake coming January 23rd, now we have Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s Portable -The Battle of Aces-. As the name implies, it’s a fighting game on the PSP, coming out January 21st, 2010.
I have to admit, I’ve been semi-hoping for something like this since I first watched Nanoha. But pessimist that I generally am, I’ll wait until a trailer is out before deciding on a purchase.
Standard edition: ￥5229
“Lyrical Box” edition: ￥13629 (“8 specials”…? If it’s groundworks I might seriously be tempted.)
Speculating on playable characters… Nanoha/Fate/Hayate/Vita/Signum are obvious. You can probably add Chrono, Arf, Shamal, and Zafira on that one way or another. Having a defense-focused Yuuno might be interesting.
PS: Kara no Kyoukai 6 entry is still sitting in Drafts, for some reason.
PPS: It’d be hilarious if a turn-based tactics StrikerS game came out.
Following up on the strange placement of my Dead Space retrospective thing between two anime episodes, now we have Prototype. I saw this being advertised non-stop at my bi-weekly haunt for the past two months now, so I was fairly excited to try this.
And yet another part of the ship begins to fail.
Dead Space, another game of the ‘survival horror’ ilk, was released October of 2008. Late to the party as always, I started going through it about two months ago, and here I am, still… going.
The story’s the usual affair; a repair team including mute engineer Isaac Clarke arrives on a ship that’s hasn’t been communicating, and find that it’s infested with murderous and very resourceful aliens. Now what’s left of your team really wants to get off.
(And yes, I realise the hilarity of having this on after Haruhi.)
Aside from showing the new “School Uniform Akiha” and of course, Ryougi, there’s also… never mind, there’s nothing. So yeah, I’m still confused why School Akiha must be a new playable character rather than just, say, a new sprite set for regular Akiha, but whatever. Well, at least there’s a Kara no Kyoukai stage (the forest in front of the Ryougi mansion, complete with the ‘fight’ BGM).
They’re .mpg files compressed in .zip’s, so you have to download them – yes, all 15 seconds of it. Just like downloading pr0n back in the 90’s, amirite?
(I’m really doing a lot of these “ohemgee, the site’s updated!” entries nowadays, aren’t I? Note to self: stop.)
Certain overlapping issues AFK prevents me from writing anything bloody worth writing. That’s what happen when I don’t have a strict writing schedule. Blah.
On the other hand, I’ve been using time leftover to play a game I got recently: Dawn of War 2. An opinion of that should come fairly soon.
